The player receives the Captain's video log from the Control
Room that overlooks the Hangar Bay. I carefully added just
enough detail in this room to show that combat occurred but
quickly ended, while the dead bodies implied that the
marines did not win the fight.I scripted a scene for the
player to watch on the video log that depicted the final
moments of the crew on the Starship Aurora. To do this, I
created a second copy of the Control Room and matched AI
actions, dialog reused from Quake 4, and various explosions.
I matched the final moments of the Strogg attack on the
marines in the video to the aftermath the player sees in the
Control Room to give meaning behind the environment.
