Resume Masters Thesis Level Design

I wanted to use a gameplay mechanic that would be familiar to people, regardless of whether they had ever played a game. The core gameplay element consisted of weights and triggers. A large stone block or three small stone blocks needed to be placed on a special floor tile to open the passage to the next room.

Above is the first room in the game. The player must push the large stone block onto the darker stone floor in order to open the door that will allow him into the second room. I limited the player's choices to prevent him or her from getting lost and placed coins to guide the player to the correct action. About nine-tenths of the players instinctively pushed the block onto the darker stone before doing anything else, while the rest preferred to collect coins first.
